About Jim Reeves

James Travis "Jim" Reeves (August 20, 1923 - July 31, 1964) was a Texan country and popular music singer-songwriter. With records charting from the 1950s to the 1980s, he became well known as a practitioner of the Nashville sound (a mixture of older country-style music with elements of popular music).

Known as "Gentleman Jim", his songs continued to chart for years after his death. Reeves died in the crash of a private airplane. He is a member of both the Country Music and Texas Country Music Halls of Fame. This website is dedicated to Jim Reeves.

Today at 9pm CET: The Velvet Voice (LIVE)

Published on: 17-01-2015

Today the LIVE broadcast of the Velvet Voice on ExtraGold.nl will be focussed on The Abbott Recordings (Late 1952).

Abbott Records was an American record label operated by music promoter and producer Fabor Robison (1911–1986) from 1951 to about 1958. Abbott Records released mainly country and western music, rockabilly and—towards the end of its existence—mainstream pop vocal selections, enjoying considerable chart success for a label of its modest means.
